2. Power Calculation Concept


The power required to drive the vehicle is specified by the following equation
Power = Torque x Rotational Speed
Equation 1(Power)
Rotational Speed = Speed / Raduis
Equation 2 (Rotational Speed)
Torque = Force x raduis
Equation 3 (Torque)
Force = Mass x Acceleration
Equation 4 (Newton Law)

For the torque we need to estimate the weight and the force required to move the vehicle. The weight estimate is given in detail in the next section, followed by the theory of the coefficient of rolling friction, which is used to calculate the force required for motion. Therefore according to each case a shift will be designed with calculated torque and rotational speed.
